Miss World 1965

Lesley Langley
UNITED KINGDOM

There was uproar when Lesley Langley, a successful model, won the Miss World contest, the third British woman to do so in five years. Even Eric Morley was surprised, as he did not think that she would win. Lesley also broke a Miss World rule by having an agent and a manager to act on her behalf, instead of the pageant organizers. However, Mr. Morley did not disqualify her, because he "did not want to be vicious." The first runner-up, USA's Dianna Lynn Batts, later gained notoriety as Dian Parkinson of the TV show "The Price is Right", from which she was kicked out during the 1980s because of a scandalous affair with the host, Bob Barker
