This year, Eric Morley introduces the "Continental Queens of Beauty". The delegate with the highest score for each continent was awarded the title along with a cash price and trophy. This year, Venezuela duplicated Australia's feat in 1972 winning both Miss World and Miss Universe (Irene Saez). Ever since, no other country has been able to match Venezuela's record when the topic of beauty pageants is concerned.
