Miss World 1983

Sarah-Jane Hutt
UNITED KINGDOM

Sarah-Jane Hutt was the fourth Miss United Kingdom to win the Miss World title. She denied that she was the world's most beautiful woman, and some of the other 71 competitors agreed - Jamaica's Catherine Levy was so angry about not winning that she refused to attend the coronation ball. Miss Jamaica got a lot of noise and excitement every time she came out on stage. Miss Barbados, Nina McIntosh Clarke said about Hutt: "Miss UK was not the prettiest girl; we all think the judges were wrong." We disagree with both: Sarah-Jane's beauty, elegance and poise are hard to beat. The second runner-up, Brazil's Cátia Silveira Pedrosa, won the Miss Personality award. She went on to become an actress and a TV presenter. Years later she was on the cover of PLAYBOY magazine, unveiling a bit more than her perfect curves, like she did in a swimsuit during the Miss World competition.
