Eva Rueber Staier
AUSTRIA
The winner, Austria's Eva Rueber-Staier, was a late favorite of the betting bookers late in the evening of the finals. She wrote in her diary on the day before the event that Venezuela's Marcia Piazza "has already dreamed that she's won the contest. She goes around telling everyone she's going to win, and everyone else might just as well pack up and go home." Marcia was disappointed with her fifth-place finish. Miss Malta, Mary Brincat, so far is the only one of 79 delegates from her country ever to make it into the semi-finals in any of the Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss International pageants
